International Road Dynamics Inc. (IRD) is a publicly held Canadian company incorporated in 1980, trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol IRD. The main facility is in Saskatoon. Branch offices are located in Canada (Ontario), the United States (9 locations), and India. IRD's primary product, a weigh-in-motion system, is a unique integrated sensor technology system that acquires real time data on highway vehicles (numbers, weight, type and density of traffic) and road and weather conditions such as icy roads, fog, rain, snow, etc. The primary product can be augmented to integrate real time air pollution monitoring and provide a driver advisory service. The weigh-in-motion system ideally allows components to be selected or deselected and permits correlations of components involving pollution, traffic, type of traffic, weather, road conditions, etc., as well as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) for bridges, tunnels, etc. Geographical Marketing Activities: 75-80% of the market is in the United States. Sales have been made throughout Canada and through agents to India, China, Indonesia, Egypt, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Spain, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Peru, and Venezuala . IRD is interested in expansion as well as various arrangements with foreign firms. The system operates on either DOS or UNIX platforms. The technology offers a total system that is highly flexible combining transportation and pollution data in real time. Patents are held on the weigh-in-motion aspects of the system. Aspects of the air monitoring component are being considered.
