Kansei Corporation was established by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. in 1956 and became publicly held in 1978. The company manufactures automotive parts mainly for the Nissan Motor group. Wire harnesses accounted for 28% fiscal 1999 unconsolidated revenues; plastic automotive parts including instrument panels, pads, console boxes and fenders, 26%; automotive instruments, 16%; airbag parts, 10%; mechanical parts, 8%; electronic parts, 7% and other, 5%. Unconsolidated revenues accounted for 85.7% of fiscal 1999 consolidated revenues. The company has seven consolidated subsidiaries, five in Japan and one each in the United States and Mexico. Overseas sales accounted for 14.2% of fiscal 1999 consolidated revenues. Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., is the major shareholder with 28.58% of issued stock.
