Sun Travels & Tours Pvt. Ltd. was found in 1990. Mr. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed is the Chairman and Managing Director of the company. The primary business activity of the company is inbound travel services.  Over the last decade, the company has grown from being a small establishment to one of the top ranked inbound tour operators in the Maldives. Award by the Ministry of Tourism to our Chairman Ahmed Shiyam for distinguished service rendered towards sustainable development of tourism in th Maldives (September 1997)  When Sun Travels & Tours Pvt. Ltd. started in 1990 the entire operation was very small in volume. However, as a result of the hard work performed by the management team, especially the Managing Director, the number of clients who booked holidays through Sun Travel gradually increased. At the end of 1993 Sun Travel decided to appoint an Austrian tour operator as an exclusive agent of Sun Travel in Europe to do the necessary promotional work. With this the number of clients arriving from Austria and neighboring countries increased tremendously. Sun Travel played a key role in developing the Austrian Market to the Maldives and a major portion of the Austrian arrivals are still handled by Sun Travel. In 1994, Sun Travel appointed a Taiwanese Tour Operator as the company's exclusive Marketing Agent for Taiwan & China. This boosted the arrivals from the Eastern Market as well, making Sun Travel the biggest inbound tour operator in the Maldives. In 1995 Sun Travel took another step towards Eastern Europe by exploiting the Russian Market. Several familiarization trips were made to Russia and a number of Russian journalists and media personnel were invited to the Maldives. With this effort, charters were organized from the region. There is no doubt that Sun Travel played a key role to develop the Russian market. Even today Sun Travel organizes charters from Moscow on a regular basis.  Sun Travel has a registered office in Geneva - Sun Travel Switzerland to promote the company in Europe. As a result, the company's European business network has expanded further. With the above Sun Travel became the most reliable tour operator in the country. It is the objective of Sun Travel to maintain the services according to the requirement of the client; to thrive to increase the efficiency of its services and offer clients excellent value for money. Presently, Sun Travel holds more than 500 beds at resorts of different categories to meet the requirement of every individual clients need. Sun Travel has gone from strength to strength and the formation of Sun Investments Pvt. Ltd. In 1997 was a key step forward. The first project of Sun Investment was the development and management of Vilu Reef Resort, which is now one of the most exclusive of the Maldives resorts. This successful effort has increased the standing of the company in the market place and the tourism industry as a whole. Office Complex & Location Sun Travel is housed in a newly built 3 story office complex, conveniently located in the main business district of Male', just a few meters from the Ferry Jetties operating between the capital island and the Airport.  The Future  We aim to remain as the top travel agent and tour operator in the Maldives. We will concentrate on strengthening the alliances that we have and increase the business activities of the company steadily. Expand the dive and surf safari operations of the company as well as introduce other special packages such as historic tours, health and spa holidays. Expand services to include airline ground handling operations and airline representation; General Sales Agency (GSA), Passenger Sales Agency(PSA) and Cargo Sales Agency (CSA) services. Last but not least, as a key partner in the industry, we wish to play our role in the promotion of eco-friendly tourism and encourage with perseverance, the awareness on this critical issue for the benefit of all.
