Sokolovska Uhelna a.s(SU). The company produces lignite for factories and power suppliers, sorted coal for factories and households, bricquets, generator gas, technical gases (oxygen and nitrogen), crushed and sorted stone, clay and chemical products (tar, fennol concentrate, liquid ammonia, sulfuric acid and other). The company history dates from 1642. The company has seven divisions. In 2001 the company produced 10,750,500 tons of coal and 1,086,100,000 cubic meters of energo-gas and sold 7,117,500 tons of coal, 2,446.4 GWh of electric power and 2,410.1 TJ of heat. The company also provides purification of its own mine water which results in the collection of iron and manganese. Coal and bricquets accounted for 46% of 2001 revenues; electric power, 37%; services, 7%; heat, 4%; tar,3%; chemical products, 1%; gases, 1% and other revenues, 1%.
