Massachusetts Electric Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of New England Electric Systems. The company transmits, distributes, sells and generates electricity at retail. The main customers of the company include retail consumers, computer manufacturers, electric and industrial machinery, banking, medical and educational institutions. To date, the company has incurred $25 million as year 2000 expenses.
