El Paso Corporation. The Group's principal activities are exploration, extraction and transportation of natural gas and marketing of energy and energy related commodities. It operates through 4 segments : Merchant Energy, Pipelines, Field Services and Production. Pipelines segment owns or has interest in approximately 60,000 miles of interstate natural gas pipelines and provides gas transmission services. Merchant Energy segment has 3 divisions: global power, petroleum and energy trading. It has 3 refineries with a capacity to process approximately 438 MBbls of crude oil per day. Production segment conducts natural gas and oil exploration and production. It leases approximately 4 million net acres in 16 states in the U.S. Field Services conducts midstream activities. It operates in Canada, Mexico, Australia, Bolivia, Hungary, Indonesia and many other foreign countries. Merchant Energy accounted for 45% of 2002 gross revenues; Pipelines, 21%; Field Services, 17% and Production, 17%.
