Noram Energy Corp. is concerned with the distribution, transmission and marketing of natural gas in the central United States. The company supplies natural gas to over 2.7 million customers in more than 1,300 communities in seven states through three operating divisions. Noram entered into a merger agreement with Houston Industries Incorporated, in December 96. Natural gas accounted for 94% of 1996 revenues; gas transportation, 4%, appliance, 1% and other, 1%.
