Banner Chemicals plc (formerly Sutcliffe, Speakman plc) is involved in the manufacture and distribution of chemicals and solvents. The group is also involved in the manufacture, regeneration and distribution of activated carbons and the design and installation of solvent recovery and emission control systems through its subsidiaries Barmebey & Sutcliffe, Sutcliffe Speakman Carbon and Sutcliffe Croftshaw. The envoirmental protection engineering businesses in the UK and USA have been successful in gaining major orders. Chemicals accounted for 50% of fiscal 1998 revenues; Carbon, 31% and Envirnomental Engineering, 19%.
