Mercury Waste Solutions, Inc.. The Company provides mercury waste redemption and recycling solutions to public utilities, manufacturers, building management companies and hazardous waste management facilities. The Company's recycling service operations consist of Mercury retorting and Lamp recycling. Mercury retorting consists of fees paid for retorting mercury waste to environmentally safe levels. Retorting is the process by which mercury is separated from the contaminated waste through the process of distilling. Lamp recycling is operated in two lamp recycling facilities, one in Roseville and the other in Union Grove. The Roseville facility utilizes a Model 2000B to recycle fluorescent lamps, while the Union Grove facility utilizes a Model 3000 lamp-recycling machine, a second-generation model of the 2000B. The operations of the Company are carried out throughout the United States. Mercury retorting accounted for 56% of 2001 revenues and Lamp recycling, 44%.
