Tungsten Carbide WC is one of the preferred materials for mechanical seal faces due to its exceptional hardness Mohs hardness of about 9.5, close to diamond and excellent wear and corrosion resistance. Extremely high hardness: resistant to particle wear, suitable for media containing sand or solid particles such as in mining or wastewater. High-temperature resistance: maintains stable performance at conditions up to 500°C. Low friction coefficient: reduces seal face heating, extending service life. Corrosion resistance: nickel-based or cobalt-based binders can be selected, resistant to weak acids, alkalis, and chemical media.
